Sittway is the capital of Rakhine State. The Rahkine State is situated in the Western part of Rakhine Yoma and Bay of Bangal is about 12,800 miles and has a population of over 2.6 million.The symbol of the State is mythical animal called a Hpjala and you can see the symbol almost everywhere you go in Rakhine. The main economy in Sittway is fishery. Beside fishing, fish-paste, dried fish and shrimp, crispies prepared from fish-meal and rice-flour and longgyis with specific designs and cloth popular in the region. Fishes and prawns which are systematically packed and produced at Cool Storage Factories are widely distributed not only for local use but also for consumption abroad.
