The Karaweik hall, also known as Karaweik palace is one of the most instantly recognizable landmarks in Yangon. As a replica of Pyi Gyi Mon Royal Barge used by Myanmar Kings, it is built by U Ngwe Hlaing and complete 1974. It has two reception halls with nice decorations where wedding receptions, gala dinners and celebrations used to be held.

In 1988, the building was changed into Karaweik Palace restaurant offering set menu lunch from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and buffet dinner from 6:00 pm until 9:00. The visitors can enjoy an extensive buffet dinner, a selection of Burmese, Chinese and western food while watching a variety of traditional Burmese entertainment.
